For fans of Jazz music who flocked to this year’s Live in Accra Jazz Festival last Saturday, it was a delight to watch Ghanaian Jazz musician, Big Wellington together with the Maher Beauroy Trio from Martinique / USA, mount the stage at the Alliance Française for a thrilling musical performance.

The opening act, Big Wellington, who takes his inspiration from Wes Montgomery and George Benson was backed by brilliant drummer, Frank Kissi along with pianist, Victor Dey. Known for their bold music, rich in sensitivity and color, the Maher Beauroy wowed the audience with a splendid performance.

Prior to this musical concert, there had been a workshop and lecture which sought to give musicians the opportunity to enjoy a short presentation of rhythms and their evolution throughout the jazz movement and was followed by a brief history of jazz in Martinique.

The second edition of the festival which features an array of local and foreign artistes seeks to celebrate jazz and live music and rekindle with the bustling jazz scene that existed in the 60s and 70s fuses concerts with workshops and exhibitions.
