"Drying Tears, Healing Wounds" with Stephen Appiah, Stonebwoy, Kalybos, Gifty Osei, others on August 1

The event under the theme "Drying Tears, Healing  Wounds" will see the children compete with each other in reading, Azonto dance and soccer.

Saturday, August 1 will be exactly 61 days after the double disasters hit residence in Accra and as such, The Books & Books foundation will bring together Stonebwoy, Stephen Appiah, Kalybos, Gifty Osei and others to 'dry the tears and heal the wounds' of hundreds of children affected in the sprawling suburb of Tema.

The event under the theme " will see the children compete with each other in reading, Azonto dance and soccer at the popular playing pitches of Ashaiman Mandela Park.

2015 BET Award winner, Stonebwoy, who was born and raised in the Ashaiman area is expected to rock the kids with good music as he gets supports from Gospel musician Gifty Osei and popular satirist Kalybos.

Former Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah, will also lead the special reading coaches team for the reading and soccer competition.

Books & Boots aims at merging education and recreation especially in communities where there are few or no after-school educational activities for children to experience.

Since 2009, Books & Boots has toured over 260 communities in Greater Accra , Tema and Kumasi on a purely Community Volunteer Service (CVS) and non profit basis.

This year's event is in partnership with Brand Nation, One Ghana, The Rotary Club and Ghana Volunteers Brigade.
