Ghana Fashion Awards 2016 launched

The 2016 edition of Ghana Fashion Awards has been launched.

This year’s ceremony was launched due to its success in the previous years, according to Kwame Gyan, the Head of Brands Communication and Marketing at Global Media Alliance.

He said “The Ghana Fashion Awards is an opportunity to bring together the fashion industry players to share little ideas and to celebrate fashion. It was launched to essentially help build the fashion brand in Ghana which celebrates photographers, fashion designers, accessory makers, stylists, models and the rest.”

He said the awards scheme has 8 categories with some 71 nominations received so far. Some of the categories include “Best Designer”, “Male Model of the Year”, “Accessory Designer” and “Fashion Photographer”.

Explaining why e.TV Ghana is committed to the award scheme, Kwame Gyan said “we want to have a foot in the fashion space. Fashion is big in this country now. I know folks who have left their bank jobs to do fashion and some are in fashion management as well.”

He said fashion designers can download and fill the nomination forms via etvghana.com website.

The year’s ceremony will be held at on November 19 at the Mercedes-Benz Showroom at the Silver Star Tower, Airport City.

Present at the launch which took place at the Studio 7 Beauty Lounge, Spintex Road on Friday October 28, were Daniel De-Long, Project Manager for Ghana Fashion Awards, Sarah, the winner of the 2016 edition of Sit Inside the Ride and Win fame alongside contestant, Setor.
