Organizers of flopped Burna Boy show break silence

Hip Jam Live & Spaceship Entertainment explained that they opted for social media as the only means of publicizing the concert because it was a new and modern way of promotional campaign

A little over forty people including soundmen and stage managers were present at the Di Don Gorgon Concert held on Friday April 24 at the Accra International Trade Fair. This led to only music duo, Keche perform while all other guest artists including Pappy Kojo, AKA, Sarkodie and the main artist Burna Boy were absent from the event.

After Nigerian music sensation and Rockstar hit maker Burna Boy took a swipe at organizers of the event, Hip Jam Live & Spaceship Entertainment for violating him and remarking that attendees deserved a refund of their monies, the organizers have rendered an unqualified apology to the fans.

In a Facebook post, Hip Jam Live & Spaceship Entertainment explained that they opted for social media as the only means of publicizing the concert because it was a new and modern way of promotional campaign.

“We embarked on a new form of promotional campaign relying on social media, the new and modern age technology, as a means of attracting a youthful crowd. It is an evolving Internet age, it was a relatively new marketing strategy we employed. Yes, we are a young establishment with no prior branding or history as is every new organization. We may not have used certain forms of media, but social media and other forms of advertising is the new marketing ploy. "WE SINCERELY APOLOGISE TO OUR FANS FOR ANY LAPSES AND AS A TEAM PROMISE TO PUT UP A BETTER PERFORMANCE IN THE NEAR Future. We are keen on a more accurate portrayal of our vision in the near future.”, the statement said.

Many pundits have criticised the organizers for not involving the traditional media in publicising the event – a reason for which the show recorded flopped.
