Australian to pay pension of crying elderly Greek man

Koufos actually knows the elderly man 77-year-old Giorgos Chatzifotiadis as a friend of his late father.

An Australian businessman James Koufos of Greek heritage has announced he will pay the pension of  an elderly Greek man who was famously pictured crying outside a bank recently.

Koufos actually knows the elderly man 77-year-old Giorgos Chatzifotiadis as a friend of his late father.

The Australian has now offered to give Chatzifotiadis 250 euros weekly for a year or until the economic situation in Greece gets better. He has also created a fund where outsiders can donate.

“This man is a old school friend of my late father. I will never allow to see a fellow Greek proud hardworking man starve" wrote Koufos on Facebook.
