Father admits killing son with morphine

Kevin Morton, 49, mistakenly gave his son, Kye Backhouse, 13, a strong painkiller and now said he will have to try and live with it for the rest of my life.

 

A dad killed his son by giving him a morphine tablet when the teenager complained about feeling ill.

Kevin Morton, 49, mistakenly gave his son Kye Backhouse, 13, the strong painkiller and now said he will "have to try and live with it for the rest of my life", Mirror Online reported.

According to BBC, the body of Kye Backhouse was found at his home in Ewan Close, Barrow-in-Furness, at about 07:20 GMT on 9 October 2014.

His father, Kevin Morton, 49, also of Ewan Close, pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday.

Sentencing was adjourned until 22 June for pre-sentence and psychiatric reports to be prepared.
