Nigerias version has a darker skin tone, and slimmed down body. In China the mans head shrunk, and in South Africa, it appears the designer placed the mans head on an entirely different body, but slightly askew.

From Australia to Venezuela the image of one man can change drastically, with the help of Photoshop.

UK pharmacy chain Superdrug said it sought to understand body image around the world, so asked graphic designers in 19 different countries to Photoshop an image of an American man, to produce their own version of an attractive man for their country.

The project shows a shirtless white man, with a beard, tan lines and a pudgy stomach as the original to be altered.

The designers were given a minimal brief, and the results were drastically different, from changes in skin colour, to the creation of abs to new hair.

Nigeria's version had a darker skin tone, and slimmed down body. In China the man's head shrunk, and in South Africa, it appears the designer placed the man's head on an entirely different body, but slightly askew.

In Russia he was given a head of blonde hair, big arms and a smaller waist, while Serbia's version added an arm tattoo.

Participating designers live in the U.S., China, Indonesia, Macedonia, the Philippines, Russia, Venezuela, South Africa, Serbia, Colombia, Spain, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Australia, Egypt, U.K., Portugal, Nigeria, and Croatia.

And the company behind it suggested men around the world may feel even more body image–related pressure than women do – pressure to be stronger or slimmer or more muscular.

The goal of the campaign was to empower people to prioritize health above appearance, and to promote body confidence around the world.

The campaign was more likely done to promote the services of the chain pharmacy, and is far from a scientific study on the body and perceptions of beauty, In fact, it could be more indicative of designers' skill in Photoshop around the globe.
