An Accra Circuit Court has sentence a 27-year old man at the Neoplan station to 10 years imprisonment for defiling a three-year-old girl.

According to Daily Graphic, the convict Ernest Arkob, 27, a trader, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him but was found guilty by the court, presided over by Mrs Rita Agyeman-Badu.

The state prosecutor, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Moses Atibilla told the court that the complainant, Afia Akpana, was a food vendor and mother of the victim while the convict was a trader at Neoplan.

He said Arkob was a regular customer of the victim’s mother and normally bought alcoholic drinks, cigarettes and food from her.

ACP Atibilla said on January 23, 2015, Arkob watched the football match between the Black Stars and their Algerian counterparts at Akpana’s shop.

He said during the match, the convict bought yoghurt for the victim which she accepted.

The prosecutor said immediately after the match ended in favour of Ghana, the convict lured the young victim to a location opposite the SSNIT building near Neoplan and forcibly defiled her.

After the act, Arkob took the young victim to the road side, left her alone and ran away.

Ibrahim Issah, who was a witness in the case, said he saw the victim crying by the road side with blood oozing from her vagina.

Upon seeing the victim in that state, he rushed her to the Neoplan Police Station where a formal complaint was lodged.

The victim was then rushed to the Police Hospital where she was admitted.

The mother later came to the hospital and identified the victim as her daughter.

Subsequently, Arkob was arrested but he denied having committed the offence.
