Ghana's Woes Dumsor Added to Wikipedia

“Dumsor” the word which was coined as a result of the unstable power shedding in the country has been added to Wikipedia.

Ghanaians have been experiencing these energy crises since 2007 as a result of the fall in the water level, the failure of some turbines among other challenging factors facing the electricity company of Ghana.

Wikipedia explain the dumsor as ‘a Drama Ghanaian term used to describe the state of electrical power shedding by the Ghana Grid Company and Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in Ghana.

‘The term gained prominence during the term of President John Mahama due to his abysmal handling of the nation's power problems. Dumsor is formed from two Twi words Dum and sor meaning off and on respectively.’

It’s no surprise that word has been added to the world most popular online encyclopedia after it has go viral on social media with hashtag in 2014, Also the President who has been nick name Mr. Dumsor has used the term on multiple platform.

This dumsor era has brought about a lot of tragedies with most properties and lives being lost than the previous era.

Although the Government has promise to work hard to restore the power supply in the country this year  it has intensified the dumsor to 12 hours of power 24 hour of light out.

Meanwhile the dumsor has brought about another venture of business such as mobile phone  charging, generators for renting as it has also demand for it, solar panels among others.

Well this might not be something we can be proud off but we have to live with it has we grow has a nation.
