The photo was taken by a Philadelphia Chemist, Robert Cornelius  in the year 1839. According to history, he had to stay motionless for 3 to 15 minutes to take the selfie.

This self-portrait of Robert Cornelius is the first known photographic portrait of a human in world history and the first known selfie.
