Man Gets Electrocuted To Death

In a drastic attempt to save his shop and property, man gets electrocuted to death.

A 28-year-old electrician, Mr Christopher Aboagye aka Kwaning has been electrocuted to death last Wednesday at Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region when he tried to prevent a burning from reaching his shop.

The Oda Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Ebenezer Ampofo said that, there was power outage in the area, and when it was restored around 8:30 pm, a wooden shop caught fire.

Sensing danger that the fire might extend to his container kiosk, Aboagye climbed the container and started removing the electric wires on top of the kiosk but he was electrocuted in the process.

He said some residents of the area who rushed to the rescue of the deceased, disconnected the electricity and rushed him to the Oda Government Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to the Divisional Police Commander, the body of Aboagye has been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital awaiting autopsy.

He said the police were investigating the cause of death of Aboagye while the Ghana National Fire Service was also investigating the cause of the fire.

The items destroyed in the tailoring shop included sewing machines, electric fans, assorted textiles and suiting materials, Graphic Online reported.
