Brewer makes beer using human urine

Denmark’s Agriculture and Food Council has claimed that the “beercycling” technique could become a trend in the future.

A Danish brewery has released 60,000 bottles of a beer produced from recycled human urine.

Although the beer, which is being called the "Pisner" does not actually contain any human waste, the local corporation, Norrebro Bryghus used 50,000 liters of urine collected at the Roskilde Music Festival in 2015 to fertilize fields of malting barley to produce it.

Henrik Vang, Chief Executive of brewer Norrebro Bryghus told the Reuters that "When the news that we had started brewing the Pisner came out, a lot of people thought we were filtering the urine to put it directly in the beer and we had a good laugh about that."

"If it had tasted even a bit like urine, I would put it down, but you don't even notice," Anders Sjögren, who attended Roskilde Music Festival in 2015, told Reuters.
