Homeless Man Arrested For Allegedly Robbing, Threatening to Cut Pregnant Woman

police reports, a 49-year-old homeless man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a 35-year-old pregnant woman in a Greenwich Village bank and threatening to cut her baby if she refused to withdraw money, police say.

Authorities say Melvin Johnson allegedly followed the woman into the Bank of America on Sixth Avenue Monday morning, showed a sharp object and threatened to cut her and her unborn child if she didn't take money out of the ATM for him.

The victim complied, withdrawing $400 in cash for the suspect, and he grabbed the cash and ran away, according to police.

No injuries were reported. It wasn't immediately clear if Johnson had an attorney.
