Andy Vazquez collapsed and died on Monday afternoon during the P.E. class.

The boy's father, Alberto Vazquez, is devastated by the tragedy.

“That’s the worst day of my life … as soon as they call me, I knew he was … something was wrong with my son,” Vazquez said.

He believes more could have been done to save his son and wants answers from school administrators.

“The school to the emergency room is about three miles, and I don’t know why it takes [sic] one hour to take to the hospital,” Vazquez said.

“I just want to find out the truth. Because I don’t want this [to] happen to any other kid.”

Vazquez claims the school caused his son's death  because the teachers and principal knew he had a congenital heart defect when he was born and had open heart surgery two years ago.

Following the surgery, doctors had told Andy not to play football but the teacher allegedly continued to push the late student.

“This teacher is going to kill me one day because I want to take some rest and he don’t let me … he doesn’t let me take,” Vazquez said his son told him before his death.

“Now my son is gone. I don’t have my son, he’s gone forever."

Modesto City Schools has released a statement assuring parents of students' safety.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family, friends, and the Gregori High School community," the statement read.

"While confidentiality laws prevent us from discussing specific details, we assure families that the safety of our students continues to be our primary concern.”
