A 29-year-old Nigerian woman has been sentenced to five years in prison, by the Gender Court in Kumasi, for trafficking four girls from Nigerian to Ghana to engage in sex trade.

According to the Daily Guide reports, the court found Grace Daniel, who is a suspected prostitute, guilty of transporting the innocent girls, whose ages range from 17 to 21 years, to engage in prostitution in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.

Presided over by Janet Anime Marfo, the court sentenced Grace Daniel, who had pleaded guilty to trafficking the ladies in the country. The court also ordered Grace Daniel to compensate the girls with cash.

They (girls) have since been taken back to Nigeria, by the police.

ASP Regina Mintah, Commander, Anti Human Trafficking Unit of the Ashanti Regional police, made this known in an interview with DAILY GUIDE.

She said around 11am on January 29, this year, her unit had information that a Nigerian lady was keeping four young ladies at Manu Guest House at Asokwa, a suburb of Kumasi.

Armed with that information, ASP Mintah said she and her men moved swiftly to the guest house where they rescued the four girls who were in a room.

During the police’s invasion of the place, Grace Daniel had gone to town to buy miniskirts which the girls would wear to work as prostitutes.

The four, who looked frightened, willingly told the police that Grace Daniel had brought them to Ghana to engage in prostitution against their wish.

According to ASP Regina Mintah, the police then laid ambush at the guest house and arrested Grace when she returned with the miniskirts. Upon interrogation, she admitted that she was the one that brought the girls from Nigeria to Ghana.

According to the convict, the girls approached her to help them find some work do and so she sponsored their trip to Ghana to work.
