Pregnant Woman In Police Custody Over Drug Trafficking

A 22 year-old pregnant woman has also been arrested smuggling substance believe to be Indian hemp from Hohoe to Accra.

The woman named as Angelina Boakye was found with 35 slabs of Indian hemp in a basket which she had covered with okro to deceive police officials at Kponvie barrier.

Angelina, a hairdresser, was passenger in the vehicle with registration number GS-4055-13 was intercepted at the Barrier during a routine check on vehicles that use the road by the police..

The District Police command , ASP Sabastian Folivi confirmed the arrest but however did not give any further details as he said police are still do some investigation on the matter.

He said the police is investigating the matter.

Meanwhile in related development The Volta Regional police have arrested two men for illegally having in their possession 446 slabs of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

To outsmart the police, the suspects had concealed the substances in seven fertilizer sacks and were traveling in a Toyota Land cruiser with a diplomatic registration number plate GS-1985 Z from Hohoe in the Volta region to Accra.

The police identified them as Ahmed Haruna, a 39 year old driver and Castro Akoto, 24, a former student of the Accra Polytechnic are currently in the custody of the police whilst investigations continues
