Randy Phothisane, according to metro.co.uk, mysteriously fell through his window and fortunately landed on a scaffold six floors below his window.

But for the scaffold serendipitously placed there, the sleep walker would have sprawled on the hard ground from that heart stopping height.

It took firefighters to even rescue him from the scaffold before he was rushed to the hospital where he is responding to treatment.

Randy’s brother reportedly said he is known for sleepwalking and he always takes sedatives before sleeping, apparently to make him have a deep sleep.

Randy’s frustrated mother, Pamela is quoted as saying “I really don’t know how he fell. I am really worried about him.”

Police are reported to have said that the victim suffered a broken leg and rib injuries to his back and torso.

Sleep walking also known as somnambulism is an act of getting up and walking around while asleep. It is most common in children, who usually outgrow it by their teens.

It usually occurs one to two hours after falling asleep at night. Rarely, it may involve unusual behaviours, such as climbing out of a window or urinating in a wardrobe.

Often, sleepwalking is a random, harmless event. Treatment may be required if it occurs often or causes injury. Though it has no known cure, medication and hypnosis may help.
