Teacher arrested for killing 2-month old baby

A 34-year-old JHS teacher in the Brong Ahafo region is in the grips of the police for allegedly murdering his son.

 

Stephen Kyere, 34, a teacher at Tekese Junior High School at Drobo in the Jaman South District of Brong-Ahafo Region, has been arrested and remanded in Police custody for allegedly killing his two month-old baby boy.

Deputy Brong Ahafo regional Police PRO ASP Christopher Tawiah said the suspect is currently in custody awaiting trial.

“The suspect ask the lady to come to his school to come for money to register the baby on the national health insurance scheme. The lady proceeded to the school and upon reaching there, quarrel ensued between the two, and he (suspect) seized the baby from the lady and hacked it on the ground,” he explained.

Takyiwaaa went to Kyere to demand the child’s health insurance renewal fees but he refused to give her the money and this resulted in a quarrel between the two.

He said Kyere is in Police custody in Sunyani for further investigations whilst the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Saint Mary’s Catholic Hospital at Drobo, pending autopsy.
