‘Prophetess’ convicted for selling same parcel of land to two persons

The complainant visited the land only to meet another person who claimed the land in question belonged to her sister.

The Winneba Magistrate Court presided over by Mr. Isaac Oheneba Kufour slapped the fine on the convict and in default, she is to serve six months in prison in hard labour.

The convict who is said to be a Prophetess, lives at Gomoa Mpota near Winneba Junction. She  pleaded not guilty to the offence, but during the trail she was found guilty and the court therefore sentenced her.

The court also ordered her to refund an amount of GH¢ 3000 to the complainant.

Prosecuting, Police Detective, Inspector Peter Agbelie narrated to the court that the complainant in the case is a Police officer stationed at Winneba.

He said in February this year, the complainant bought a parcel of land situated at Gomoa Mpota from Mary Adam at the cost of GH¢ 4,000.00,

According to Inspector Agbelie, after the complainant had paid the said money to the accused person, he requested for documents covering the land.

The prosecutor said the convict gave him an indenture and a site plan which were not endorsed, and the complainant declined to accept them.

Inspector Agbelie further stated that, on May 10 this same year, the complainant visited the land only to meet another person who claimed the land in question belonged to her sister.

He said the complainant reported the new development to the convict, but she did not give him any reasonable explanation.

The complainant then reported the case leading to the arrest of the convict.

Prosecution said during investigations, the convict refunded GH¢1,000 to the complainant.
