Dispatch Rider Is On The Run With GH¢9,150

The Amasaman Police Command has launch manhunt search for a 28-year-old dispatch rider, Mr Osei Owusu Cornelius, for allegedly stealing GH¢9,150 belonging to his employer.

The suspect was said to have bolted with the money after he had been instructed by his employer, West African Décor Tiles, to deposit the said amount into an account at the Mile Seven branch of Ecobank.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police at the Amasaman District Police Station, Mr J. B. Darkwa said  the suspect, who hailed from Koforidua in the Eastern Region, until the act, had operated as a dispatch rider for the company for almost eight months, Daily Graphic report.

Mr Darkwa said the suspect took advantage of the trust the company had reposed in him to flee with the money.

On July 24, last year, the suspect was instructed by his employer to take money from the company’s branch in Accra.

On arrival at the company’s branch, Osei Owusu was handed an envelope containing the money and was instructed to deposit it into the account of his employer.

Mr Darkwa said after some hours, his employers called him only to realise that his phone had been switched off, adding that an attempt to track him down at his residence yielded no fruit as he was nowhere to be found.

The police believe the suspect is hiding either in Kumasi or Accra.
