A final year Junior High School (JHS) Pupil has met his untimely death when he drowned in a river at Maabang, a suburb in the Ashanti Region.

The sad incident occurred when William Nti, 16, and two other persons went on a crab hunting expedition when he fell into a fast- flowing river and disappeared, Adomonline reports.

According to the reports, Police rescue team went on a fruitless search until the body was found after three traditional priests performed some rites.

Confirming the story to Nhyira News, Chief of Maabang, Nana Amankwaa Duah expressed shock at the incident.

He explained that since he became a Chief, it is the first time the river has kept someone hostage for more than a day.
