Mother Burns Newborn Baby With Stove

A teenage girl has been arrested for allegedly suffocating her newborn baby to death and burning the body on a stove.

17-year-old Alexandra Olaru in Romania has been arrested after she allegedly suffocated her newborn baby to death with a pillow and burnt its body on a stove.

Alexandra did not want her parents to know she was pregnant so she decided to do away with her new child in a horrific way.

However luck ran out for the teenager when she told her friends what she did.

A friend, Iona Bibesco, said:

"No one knew she was pregnant, she didn’t look it and she didn’t tell anyone.

"We only found out when she came to school the next day and told us what had happened.

"At first we thought she was making up some sick sort of joke, but as she went into more detail we began to realise it was probably true."

Prosecutor Emil Mota also said:

"When questioned by police the young woman admitted everything she had done and gave all the details.

"Immediately after she gave birth she killed the newborn and set it on fire.

"She said she was afraid her parents would find out she was pregnant and be angry."

The suspect is currently undergoing psychiatric tests and will be charged with murder if she's found to be sane.
