65-year-old man gets 20 years for rape

An older citizen who could not control his sexual desires has been jailed 20 years for defiling a 14-year-old girl.

A 65-year old driver, John Tei has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a 14-year old girl at Chebitanya-Dodowa.

Narrating the incident, prosecutor, Chief Inspector Adu Ansu Kyeremeh said complainant and mother of the victim, Elizabeth Amengor on 27 May, 2014 noticed a sudden change in the way the victim walks.

Though the victim did not disclose upon asking, she later admitted that in November 2013 the accused on several occasions had sexual intercourse with her in his house.

The victim’s mother then lodged a complaint at Dodowa DOVVSU where she was issued with a Police medical form to send the victim to the hospital.

Investigation by the Police led to the suspect’s arrest and subsequent arraignment before court.

Tema Circuit Court ‘A’ presided over by Her Honour Mrs. Lydia Osei Marfo handed the accused a 20 year jail term in hard labour for the offence.
