2 Mistakenly Killed By Hunters

Two persons have been mistakenly killed by hunters due to poor visibility.

 

Two persons have been mistakenly killed by hunters in the Eastern region due to poor visibility caused by the rains.

The hunters, after police interrogation, claim to have fired after noticing the shaking of plants.

A statement issued by the regional Police Command said the hunters claim they fired after noticing the shaking of plants.

The Police in the statement asked the hunters “to desist from indiscriminate discharge of firearm to avoid instances where innocent people are killed or harmed due to hunters firing without the expected diligence or carefulness.”

The Police is also asking the hunters to exercise the greatest care and diligence to avoid such killings.

The release signed by Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, the Public Affairs Officer of the Command also directed the hunters to observe the game and wildlife regulations.

“Hunters in Ghana should...understand that the firearms they are using for hunting must be licensed for the period the hunting takes place and also must have been granted a game license by the Chief Game and Wildlife Officer else such hunters commit offence".
