Brussels attacks Belgian authorities release terror murder suspect

A man named Faycal C who was arrested on Thursday night and charged with terrorist activities two days later has been freed by Belgian authorities.

He was captured in a video footage wearing a hat and a light jacket with two alleged suicide bombers at Brussels airport.

His home was searched but no weapons or explosives had been found.

“The clues that had led to the arrest of Fayçal C were not backed by the evolution of the current investigation,” the Belgian prosecutor’s office said in a press release.

As a result, “the person was released by the investigating magistrate.”

Two explosions occurred on Tuesday March  21 in the departure hall of the Zaventem airport and a metro substation in Brussels.

The Islamic State (IS) group said it was behind the attacks in a statement issued on the IS-linked Amaq agency.

Belgium has raised its terrorism alert to its highest level, after three days of national mourning.
