In Brussels Double explosions at airport; 17 dead, dozens wounded

The airport is closed, there are no departures or arrivals due to an explosion or two, which would have injured shortly before 8 am, according to RTBF

Two explosions occurred on Tuesday around 8:00 in the departure hall of the Zaventem airport in Brussels.

Travellers are being evacuated.

There is at least one dead and several wounded, according to the federal police in Brussels. The airport was closed and passengers are being evacuated according to SNCB on Twitter.

All flights to Zaventem were diverted. A provincial emergency plan was activated by governor Brabant Lodewijk De Witte.

"There was a first detonation. Everyone started running. Then there was a second one ", said two people who were in the airport. Speaking to RBTV, they confirmed that there are several injured.

 

Meanwhile, police have closed all access to the airport. Only emergency services are allowed to enter.

The images sent by witnesses on Twitter showed the front of the airport and roof areas of the hall collapsed departures.

 

Bloody of the wounded images also appear on Twitter, while passers videos showed the crowd movements fleeing the main hall.
