Black military personnel wins Miss USA pageant

Miss Deshauana, a 26-year old army officer won the hearts of fans at the T-Mobile Arena and the millions of viewers worldwide with her poise, confidence, beauty and her answer in response to the term “confidently beautiful”

Miss District Of Columbia, Deshauna Barber has been crowned Miss USA 2016 in a three-hour event that saw 52 beautiful & intelligent ladies from across the United States compete against each other.

According to the military personnel now turned beauty queen "As a woman in the United States Army, I think ... we are just as tough as men. As a commander of my unit, I'm powerful; I am dedicated.'' She added that, "gender does not limit us in the United States.''

The event has bounced back from the controversies that had hit it last year from the remarks co-owner and Republican presidential-nominee Donald Trump made about Hispanics a year ago and the lawsuit that proceeded afterwards.

Aside that, viewer ratings fell due to the gaffe and embarrassment which occurred last December after comedian/talk show host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia, Ariana Gutierrez Arevalo as the winner before producers alerted him of the error.
