DESCRIPTION: Filmmaker and artist Yann Arthus-Bertrand spent 3 years collecting real-life emotional stories from more than 2,000 women and men in 60 countries. Those emotions, those tears and smiles, those struggles and those laughs are the ones uniting us all. Join us for the first screening ever of Human in Ghana. The movie lasting 3 hours, there will be a break and refreshments served halfway.  #WhatMakesUsHUMAN

RATE: GHC 5 / GHC 3 FOR STUDENTS & AF MEMBERS / FREE UNDER 16DESCRIPTION: “Healing Handicapped Homes”- a Kwame Write concept powered by Inkfluent involves film, poetry theatre, word art, dance and folk music. Handicapped homes could mean broken homes, but could also mean well-to-do homes which need a spice of essential bonding elements like love. We hereby explore how the power of art's expression goes to heal and keep us aware in the midst of society's drag. Premiering is a short film shot in Jamestown; “Nshorna” starring artist Attukwei, which is based on the experience of a broken home due to a government demolition exercise. The event features Dahveed Nelson; an original member of The Last Poets USA, folk musician Ras Bomba, the Rewriters trio, wordsmith C-Real and Burkinabe poet Balima Mahamadi.

DESCRIPTION:

After touring many European festivals, King Ayisoba, the widely acclaimed "King of Kologo Music" brings the second edition of the Batakari Night to Alliance Francaise. The musician is currently one of the most popular Ghanaian artists abroad.  Batakari Night will feature some of Ghana's leading Kologo players and special guest appearances from Wanlov, Kwaw Kese, Stevoo , Yaa Pono and Zea (from Holland) with whom King Ayisoba has worked extensively. Everyone is encouraged to wear Batakari, as it is one of the few wholly locally produced fabrics in use today. The Batakari night is a night of fantastic music, performances and a market place for some of the finest batakaris ever made. Don't miss it.

Description: “I cannot think of a significant life moment, I have had, that didn’t involve some woman. These photographs are both a song in celebration of the African woman, and a criticism of how our societies deliberately impede their every movement.” This is Nana Kofi Acquah’s artist statement. More than a photo exhibition, this event will also feature poetry and a sound installation by the Nana Kofi Acquah himself.

Originally conceived by Wanlov the Kubolor in collaboration with AFA and Hipsters of Nature, this event is back for the 2nd Edition following a very successful debut. Guest DJ ELO from Budapest, Hungary will make us party till security recycles us.

An official from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) will be present to update us on Ghana’s participation at the recent COP21 Climate Summit in Paris and answer pertinent questions.

Hipsters of Nature  is a collective of youth using creative ways to promote environmental education and find solutions to environmental problems in Ghana.

DESCRIPTION: Artist Kenturah Davis, in collaboration with Kuyum Arts Investigation Project is developing a performance that weaves together ideas about history, allegiance, pride and protest. Using the function of a flag as the point of departure, it considers the power of cultural symbols to project strength and solidarity. In a world that's increasingly connected through digital platforms, it raises questions about how we, as individuals, choose our allegiances and how will they project our story. The performance looks to our creative community to be guides that help reconfigure history and new narratives that can guide us through social unrest. The project consist 5 choreographers and 1 Visual Artiste from Ghana, U.S.A, South Africa, Mali and Togo.
