Cyclists to win GHC 20,000 in Cowbell's cycling Challenge

Accra and Tema will be set alive on Monday when about 100 cyclists take up the 2017 Cowbell Cycling Challenge.

Participants of the 2017 Cowbell cycling challenge are set to benefit from a total of GH₵ 20,000 in cash prizes as well as products.

The event will kick start at the Independence Square in Accra on Monday July 3, 2017.

Hundred cyclists will compete for honours. The cycling competition is a collaboration between Cowbell, the Greater Accra Cycling Association and Decathlon Ghana Limited in Accra.

Speaking to Pulse Ghana News at the launch of the event, brands manager of Cowbell Joseph Ashong said the competition is an individual race open to all cyclists in the country.

He further explained that the overall winner of the competition will take home GH₵ 2000, Cowbell products, a mountain bike from Decathlon as well as jerseys, a glittering trophy and a medal.

The second and third place riders will receive GH₵ 1000 and GH₵ 500 respectively in addition to Cowbell Products and Decathlon vouchers.

Ashong also stated that there will be consolation prizes for the top 15 cyclists as well as 10 officials of the Greater Accra Cycling Association.

The competition will start at 9am at the Black Stars Square (Independence Square) go through some principal streets of Accra, through Teshie to Tema and then back to Accra before finally ending the 84 kilometres race at the Junction Mall at Nungua, he noted.

Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Director of Sports, Jeffrey Manzan Owusu was appreciative to Cowbell for their support for cycling.

This he believes has kept the sport alive for 10 years.

"We all know the challenges government has faced with respect to funding some of these sports, so I am always glad to see Cowbell always at the forefront when it comes to keeping professional cycling alive".

Customer Relations Manager of Decathlon Ghana limited Patrice Carminati also expressed gladness for being a partner of the cycling event.
