Method

  • Remove all unwanted particles and wash beans.
  • Soak beans in water for one hour. Then boil until the beans are soft.
  • Add more water when necessary until the beans are cooked and drain them in colander.
  • Heat oil under medium heat and fry onions for 3- 6 minutes.
  • Add blended pepper, garlic and ginger and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add tomato puree, water and stir occasionally.
  • After 10 minutes, add spices and check for salt.
  • Wash and rinse the rice really well, until the water is clear and drain.
  • Place in a saucepan with double the amount of water and a little salt and stir once.
  • Bring to the boil, then turn the heat all the way down and cover the pan tightly with a lid.
  • Cook on the lowest heat possible for 10-15 minutes.
  • Use a fork to fluff up the cooked rice.
  • Serve
