How to slice chicken breast

Buying presliced marinated chicken breast is very expensive. Preparing your own chicken is simple and you get to season with the herbs and spices of your choice.

Chicken can be slippery to slice, it is advisable to freeze for 10- 15 minutes and use sharpened knife.

Fresh chicken breast

Paper towel

Plastic wrap

Cutting board

Sharp knife

Method

Rinse the chicken breast thoroughly under running water.

Pat the breast dry with a clean paper towel.

Cut off any excess fat or gristle from the meat.

Wrap the breast in plastic wrap, tightly sealing it.

Throw it on a plate and place it in the freezer for about 15 minutes to help it firm up.

Remove the chicken breast from the freezer, unwrap it from the plastic wrap and place it on the cutting board.

Slice it into even slices, slicing with the grain, which runs from tip to tip. Make slices in whatever the width you desire.

If a recipe calls for dicing, start by slicing the chicken into wider strips.

Working one slice at a time, slice it lengthwise into long strips then cut crosswise into dice.

Marinade the chicken with your favorite spices and freeze in a sealable plastic bag to have an easy and quick protein to add to sauces and other dishes, when needed.
