Tilapia is a delicious, lean white fish that has a wide variety of associated health benefits, including its ability to help reduce weight, boost overall metabolism, speed up repair and growth throughout the body.


  1. Rice

  2. Cooking oil

  3. Shredded cabbage

  4. Garli, chopped

  5. Ginger, chopped

  6. Onion, chopped

  7. Green pepper, chopped

  8. Carrots, diced

  9. Curry, nutmeg and rosemary

  10. Salt

  11. Pepper, blended

  12. Tomatoes

  13. 1 tsp of lime juice

  14. Fresh tilapia.

  15. Fish spices

  16. Onion and garlic powder

  1. Descale the fish and wash thoroughly.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine spices,onion and garlic powder and lime juice. Season with salt and pepper, and toss to combine; set salsa aside.

  3. Rub tilapia all over with oil; sprinkle with spice mixture.

  4. Leave to marinade.

  5. Heat oil in a large saucepan. Add chopped onion and garlic, leave to simmer

  6. Add blended pepper, fresh tomatoes and tomatoes puree. Stir and cover to cook.

  7. Taste for salt

  8. Add curry, nutmeg and rosemary.

  9. Add carrots, green pepper and cabbage to stew, stir and leave to simmer.

  10. Add cups of rice to the stir continuously for 2 minutes.

  11. Add water, taste for salt again and cover to cook.

  12. Heat grill to high.

  13. Grill tilapia until the underside loosens easily from grill, 2 to 3 minutes.

  14. Using a metal spatula with a thin blade, flip fish; continue to cook 2 to 3 minutes.

  15. Check jollof if the grains are soft and there is no water.

  16. Serve grilled tilapia with jollof rice.

  17. Some people prefer to add shito and coleslaw.
