Ghana's Abena Appiah lists Lebanon, Nigeria and Dominica as her biggest competition

Abena Akuaba Appiah has cited Miss Dominican Republic, Miss Lebanon and Miss Nigeria as her keen competition, going into the Miss Universe finale in Miami.

Miss Universe Ghana 2014, Abena Appiah has Ghana for the United States, where she will  begin preparation towards the upcoming Miss Universe finale.  Speaking to the press at the Kotoka International Airport before her departure, Abena said she was excited about the world finals, and she is going to make Ghana proud no matter the outcome.

She said: “I am nervous and excited at the same time. I’m going to try my best at the finals; I leave everything to God. I also want my fellow Ghanaians to vote for me because moving from the final 88 to the next stage depends on the public vote. So if Ghanaians vote for me then maybe I can make top 10.”

She also highlighted her strengths going into the world finals as: “Basically I am multi-talented and I am going as a natural hair contestant. That’s the first time in the history of Ghanaian pageantry, so I hope that is going to give me an advantage. I also sing, write music and play the guitar, so I hope that will give me an advantage as well.”

According to Abena, she has already been reading on her competitors and she find contestants from Dominican Republic, Lebanon and Nigeria as her keen competition. “I have seen many of the contestants from the other countries and they are all amazing. Everybody is coming up with something but I believe that what I am going there with is also unique. I am going there with my African prints. I got my local designer to create a lot of amazing styles for me and I hope they like it”.
