Women are unto men who like their own brothers

New research has uncovered this overlooked element of human attraction.

girls like guys who look like their brothers

But now new research has unearthed a completely-overlooked element when it comes to who women chose to date: They’re into men who look like their brothers.

For the study, which was published in the journal Evolution & Human Behavior, researchers asked participants to look at pictures of men and rank them according to who looked the most similar.

Included in the pictures were images of other women’s partners and brothers.

The pictures were sent in by volunteers and were mixed in with those of famous people.

For the study, participants were handed a sheet of paper that had the photo of a woman’s brother in one column and four men—including the woman’s significant other—in the other.

Participants were asked who the man on the first column resembled the most in the second column.

You can probably see where this is going: Researchers say they found “clear evidence for perceptual similarity in facial photographs of a woman’s partner and her brother.”

Basically, women are totally into guys that look like their brother.

Statistically speaking, the odds of a study participant picking the woman’s partner should be one in four, but scientist found that it was closer to 27 percent.

That’s obviously not a huge jump, but it’s enough of a correlation to make everyone feel a little dirty.

Lead researcher Tamsin Saxton told The Independent that the findings weren’t true for every woman with a brother but she added this: “At levels greater than chance, partners did show some subtle resemblance to the women's brothers."

Just a little something to keep on the back-burner when you meet your girlfriend’s family.

Also, her brother must be one good-looking guy, right?
