The reggae superstar would have been 70 today if alive.

February 6, 2015 marks Bob Marley's 70th birthday.

Bob Nesta Marley, a Jamaican reggae singer, songwriter, musician, and guitarist who achieved international fame and acclaim died of melanoma in 1981.

Marley originally started out as part of the Wailers in 1963, but the band broke up in 1974 and he went solo. Exodus was his first solo album release in 1977 and truly put him on the map. He forged a distinctive songwriting and vocal style that would later resonate with audiences worldwide.

The Wailers went on to release some of the earliest reggae records with producer Lee Scratch Perry.

He produced his status as one of the world's best-selling artists of all time, with sales of more than 75 million records.

He was a committed Rastafari who infused his music with a sense of spirituality.

Bob Marley will forever be remembered by all reggae loving musicians and fans.
