Shatta Wale Declared “Best Vocalist” At The 2015 MOGO Awards

Patrons who thronged the AICC auditorium on Saturday for MOGO Awards 2015 believed Shatta Wale deserved the "Best Vocalist" award and thus, he was declared the winner.

The Citi FM’s 2015 MOGO Awards held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, 28th March 2015 wasn’t just about celebrating and recognising Ghanaian Highlife legends but also produced some intriguing moments.

After Nana Ampadu provided a fine performance on the night, he told a fascinating story about an unemployed graduate who prepared himself for interview for his first employment but failed in advance on reaching the office. At the end, Nana Ampadu use an Akan term “Seeworewo” to describe the situation.

Just after he left the stage, any responds which were expected from the patrons who thronged the AICC auditorium in their numbers on the night was the term that Nana Ampadu discovered -- “Seeworewo.”

But all of the sudden, things changed when Viasat 1 TV’s “This Morning” co-host Kokui Selormey took the stage to announce the MOGO Awards “Best Vocalist of the Year” winner. The category which had Kwabena Kwabena, Joe Mettle, Daddy Lumba, Efya, and Danny Nettey as nominees turned out to be something else.

After the nominees were announced, Kokui asked the patrons to guess the winner but to her surprise, almost half of them yelled Shatta Wale’s name although he wasn’t nominated for that category. But the good news is, Pulse.com.gh's Star Contributor, Efya won the award in that category.

Aside that, his name was once again yelled by the same patrons when “Artiste of the Year” name was being announced.
