Greater Accra Region Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC) Bala Maikankam says the party will fight to secure at least 10 per cent of total valid votes to be cast during the 2016 general elections.

He said PNC had what it takes to do so but for problems to do with leadership.

“We noticed our problem goes with logistics and our leadership are not descending down to the roots,” he noted.

“This time around we have [meeting grassroots members] in our agenda.”

Mr. Maikankam made these known during a meeting with some party members in Accra.

He said the party is targeting at least 12 parliamentary seats in 2016.

He accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of taking its members after it was established in 1992.

“NDC took our members because in those days if you mention the Zongo communities, it’s for PNC.”

PNC’s Hassan Ayariga came fifth during the 2012 elections after polling 0.22 per cent of the total valid votes cast. He trailed candidates of the NDC, New Patriotic Party (NPP), Progressive People's Party (PPP) and Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP).

The party has begun reorganizing itself ahead of the next elections, having opened nominations for the election of national executives.
