The 2015 Parliamentary primaries of the opposition, New Patriotic Party (NPP) will come off as scheduled, a press release from the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong stated.

The release stated that the 13 June, 2015 date for the primaries has not been changed.

There were reports that the NPP Parliamentary primaries might be postponed due to the crisis among the executives of the party.

But Kwabena Agyepong confirmed in the release that with the exception of Bia East, Bia West, Juaboso, Akontombra, Nadowli-Kaleo and Nkwanta South constituencies where executives of the party have requested a postponement of their primaries, all other constituencies would hold their primaries on the said dates.

Below is the release

The New Patriotic Party wishes to inform all party faithful and the general public that the 2015 Parliamentary Primaries will come off on 13th June 2015 as scheduled.

All are to note that no decision has been made to postpone the Primaries. Preparations for the elections are far advanced except in the following Constituencies where requests for postponement have been granted, upon application by the Regional Executives:

Bia East, Bia West, Juaboso, Akontombra - Western
Nadowli-Kaleo - Upper West
Nkwanta South - Volta

Parliamentary Primaries in the Klottey Korle, Obom-Domeabra and Akrofuom Constituencies have been put on hold, pending the determination of cases referred to the National Appeals Committee.

The Electoral Commission is currently printing the Notices of Poll and the Ballot Papers for the Primaries.

Constituency Election Committees are to liaise with the District Directors of the Electoral Commission for the selection of appropriate Venues for the Primaries.

We wish all contestants the very best

KWABENA AGYEI AGYEPONG
GENERAL SECRETARY
