Family of deceased demands new judge in Afoko's trial

In their petition, the family of the murdered Upper East Chairman is raising concerns over the decision by the judge, Justice LL Mensah to remand the suspect in police custody rather than prison custody.

According to the family, they are of the belief Gregory should be placed in prison custody after his committal to the high court for the muster trial to begin.

The family is also of the belief that the high court judge has been overburdening the state prosecutors in the matter with some of his demands such as prosecution witnesses be brought in time for a speedy trial.

Gregory Afoko is facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime and murder. He, together with one Asabke Alangdi who is on the run, have been accused of pouring a substance believed to be acid on the former NPP regional chairman which led to his death.
