Wife testifies; says husband confirmed that Afoko poured acid on him

Gregory Afoko is facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime and murder.

 

He has been accused of attacking the former NPP chairman with acid which led to his death.

Mounting the witness stand in court to testify against Gregory Afoko on Tuesday, the wife of the deceased narrated the circumstances that led to her husband's death.

"My husband returned home at 11 pm crying in the car, saying I am dying, younger brother of the politician Paul Afoko and Asabke have poured a substance on me," Hajia Adams told the court in Hausa.

She told the High Court presided over by Justice LL Mensah that she rushed out of the house at the SSNIT quarters in Bolgatanga to find out what was happening to him.

Hajia Zenabu said upon reaching the entrance of the house her late husband told her Gregory and a one Abanske had poured liquid substance on him causing his ordeal.

Gregory Afoko was committed to stand trial by a District Court in the high court and has been denied bail on three occasions by both the lower court and the high court.
