Customers of DKM Diamond Microfinance in the Berekum Municipality have attacked the District Chief Executive for Nkoranza North in the Brong Ahafo region.
DCE attacked by DKM microfinance customers
The youth claim that Mr. Adjei Dwemoh has remained quiet in spite of the raging controversy regarding the refusal of the company to pay them their monies.
The DCE, Kwadwo Adjei Dwemoh was on Tuesday pelted with sachet water by the youth of the community over the inability of microfinance company, DKM, to pay them their monies.
DKM and Jastar, both microfinance companies in the Brong Ahafo region, have been hit with crisis as they have been unable to redeem their promise of doubling the investments of their customers.
The incident occurred after the DCE had attended a public gathering which was attended by chiefs and some opinion leaders and officials of the two financial institutions.
But the aggrieved youth stormed the event grounds and started throwing objects at the DCE.

He was whisked away by the police to prevent further attacks by the angry youth.
New Patriotic Party Members of Parliament ( MP) in the Brong Ahafo region have also raised concerns over the failure of DKM to meet their financial obligations to its customers.
According to the MPs, the situation has brought untold hardships on residents who have their monies deposited in these microfinance companies.
To this end, the MPs said they fear an economic meltdown in the region is eminent.
