Nana Addo, Rawlingses mourn Okuapehene

Flt Lt Rawlings described Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III as a unifier who sought not only the unity of his people but also that of the entire country.

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo, former President, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, on Thursday,  February 4, 2016, joined the chiefs and people of the Akuapem Traditional Area to mourn the demise of their paramount Chief Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III.

The former President commended the departed royal for offering wise counsel to his government when he was Head of State and later President.

Nana Addo Dankwa III who passed at the age of 85 reigned as Okuapehene from 1974 to 2015.

There will also be a thanksgiving service on Sunday, February 7, and final burial rites on Monday, February 8, at the forecourt of the Okuapehene’s Palace in Akropong.

President John Mahama is expected to attend the final funeral rites of Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa III.
