Death toll have increased to 147 at the Garissa university college where students were reported to have been killed by militant al-shabaab.

At least 147 hostages have been killed in a militant attack on a university in north-eastern Kenya, officials say.

The Kenyan Interior Ministry also said four of the attackers at the Garissa University College campus had been killed, and that security forces were now in the process of clearing the area.

Reports say 65 others were wounded when gunmen stormed the campus in Garissa. Troops are fighting the gunmen.

More than 500 students were still unaccounted for, a minister said. The number of hostages is unclear.
