Vice Prez urges people of Kete -Krachi to maintain peace

He made the statement on Saturday when he joined them at a durbar to climax their annual Yam Festival.

Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur has encouraged the chiefs and people of Kete Krachi to continue to maintain peace in the area for its rapid socio-economic development.

He said government has initiated a number of projects to ensure the rapid development of the area, from the construction of roads and other facilities to give the district, a face-lift and make life more comfortable for them.

Kwesi Amisssah Arthur said the people of Ghana are grateful to the people of Kete – Krachi for the role they have played in the energy sector of the country, giving part of their lands for the development of the Akosombo dam.

Vice president Kwesi Amissah Arthur lauded the Traditional Council, led by the Krachiwura, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, in releasing 80 acres of land for the permanent site of the college. And the continues support  to ensure that the new Midwifery Training College meets the required standards, by freely releasing the community library and community center all at Kete Krachi to the college.

Vice president Amissah Arthur assured them that the request by Nana Krachiwura on the late President John Evans Atta Mills ferry that he promised them would be in soon to commence operation in order  to improve economic activities in that part of the country.

He also assured the people that as they are seeing the cocoa road project is ongoing together with the Eastern Corridor road network are being done as a testimony of the good works and is committed to delivering its “better Ghana”.

Nana Mprah Besemunah III, Krachiwura lauded government’s policies on the road sector. The ongoing Cocoa road projects thus Kete-Krachi- Bomoden , Buya to Dambai road and appealed for the Krachi township roads to give the town a befitting look as a district capital, pledging the Area’s unflinching support to government.

Earlier on Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur together with the Volta regional Minister Hon Helen Adwoa Ntorso ,who also doubles as the MP for kete Krachi paid a working visit to some of the cocoa roads construction sites where he inspected the progress of work on the Kete –Krachi-Buya road project and interacted with the site engineer on progress of work.

In Buya members of the community came out numbering about hundred to thank the Vice President and government for the unprecedented good works they are doing in their road sector, making their journey short.  Something that hey said had never happened in their area.

They also took the opportunity to visit the river bank where the pontoon brings materials for the construction of the road.
