Two suspects in police custody at the Asiwa Police station at Bekwai in the Ashanti region have escaped.
Two suspects are on the run after breaking jail from the Asiwa Police cells at Bekwai in the Ashanti region, bringing to four, the number of jailbreaks in three months.
The District Chief Executive of Bosome Freho, Kwame Adarkwa, confirmed the jailbreak on Adom FM, Friday.
The suspects were arrested on Wednesday for engaging in illegal mining and theft of some excavators but they escaped Sunday after using some tools to break metal bars in the cells.
This comes three days after a similar incident happened at the Tepa Police station in the Ashanti region.
However, the police have assured that the escaped suspects will be rearrested.
The jailbreak is the fourth in three months. Three recorded in the Ashanti region and one at Denu in the Volta region.
Seven inmates in Police custody at the Denu Police station broke cell last month. Five out of the seven inmates have so far been re-arrested.
