Dumsor to end in a short while - Mahama

Addressing the media on Tuesday, the president said the load shedding crisis was not peculiar to his government.

President Mahama has said that the country is close to solving the load shedding problem which is having a toll on businesses and individuals.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, the president said the load shedding crisis was not peculiar to his government. “What it means is that we need to plan our demand, forecast our demand, plan generation to keep up with development, and, so, when I spoke last year, almost a year ago, I said that we have had this problem before, but what we have always done is to try and patch the problem and then it resurfaces, and, so, what I intend to do is to fix the problem.

"One of the major sectors that takes a lot of my time and attention is the Power Sector. I must say that we have made a great effort, we are as close as we are to solving the problem of ‘dumsor’ [power crisis] and I’m sure that for most people, from the Christmas time you can see a very visible improvement in terms of supply."

"We still have a gap. But I believe that in the next short while, we will be able to overcome the problem of loadshedding," he added.
