22-year-old aspiring MP’s father breaks silence

Francisca Oteng-Mensah who is a second year law student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) beat incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Kofi Frempong by polling 321 votes as against his 202 in the just ended NPP’s Kwabre East constituency parliamentary primaries.

 

Dr Kwaku Oteng, father of the 22-year-old Member of Parliament aspirant for Kwabre East in the Ashanti region says his daughter is capable of leading the constituency.

Francisca Oteng-Mensah who is a second year law student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) beat incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Kofi Frempong by polling 321 votes as against his 202 in the just ended NPP’s Kwabre East constituency parliamentary primaries.

A section of the public has raised concerns about her age. They opine that Ms. Oteng-Mensah is too young for the job. Some have also said she will find it extremely difficult to combine her academics and parliamentary duties should she win the 2016 parliamentary elections.

However, Dr Kwaku Oteng says his daughter can lead the constituency.

“She is an intelligent young lady and can lead. The delegates genuinely liked her and her message was able to win it.”“She started travelling on her own at age 10. On one occasion she travelled to London alone and was detained at Heathrow for four hours. They phoned me to enquire why I had allowed her to travel alone and I explained and they allowed her to go,” the owner of the Kumasi-based Angel Group of Companies noted.
