Bribery corruption Fourteen judges contest their suspension in court

The fourteen judges say they were given only two days to respond to the query on a report they had not seen

Six circuit court judges and eight magistrates have filed a suit at the Fast Track High Court challenging their suspension by the Judicial Council.

The plaintiffs contend that the processes leading to their suspension were unfair.

They are questioning the authority of the committee set up by the Chief Justice to look into the matter.

According to a writ sighted by Pulse.com.gh, the plaintiffs say they were not given a chance to respond to the allegations level against them before they were suspended.

“In so far as the power to conduct disciplinary proceedings against the plaintiffs is by law vested in a judge of the High Court or some judicial officer appointed for the purpose by the Chief Justice, the current disciplinary committee is bereft of jurisdiction to investigate the plaintiffs.”

The fourteen judges say they were given only two days to respond to the query on a report they had not seen.

Meanwhile three of the judges have been acquitted and discharged for mistaken identity. 

There are requesting for an apology letter from Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
