Bribery scandal “We don’t expect anything to be done about Anas’ expose” - CPP

Thirty judges and about a 100 court officials have been captured in a yet-to-be released video receiving bribes or engaged in corrupt activities to influence justice.

The Deputy communications director of the CPP, Ernesto Yeboah has cast doubts over whether government will prosecute the judges involved in the latest bribery scandal.

His comment follows the latest expose on judiciary which will soon be released by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. Thirty judges and about a 100 court officials have been captured in a yet-to-be released video receiving bribes or engaged in corrupt activities to influence justice.

Speaking in an interview with Pulse.com.gh, the deputy communications director lamented that in spite of the serious nature of the expose, he believes government will not take any immediate action in that regard.

“We don’t expect anything to be done. I mean, looking at the trend, we don’t expect government or the state organisation to take the initiative to follow up on Anas’ expose. This is not the first time and we don’t expect anything to change...As a country, what have we done to all the expose that Anas has been able to come about. You recall the issue with the customs officers. We are still waiting to hear what has been done about it”, he said.

Mr. Yeboah further stated that he is not amazed about the recent expose since he believes that the image of the judiciary has already been dented with previous corruption cases that are yet to be confirmed. The justice system in this country, he noted, has already been designed to favour only the rich to the detriment of the poor.

Meanwhile, the two-year investigative video, titled ‘Ghana in the Eyes of God – Epic of Injustice’ is set to premiere at the Accra International Conference Centre on September 22.
