Tech giant launches new 9.7-inch iPad Pro

The new iPad will also carry the same 64-bit A9X chip, a four speaker setup, new 12-megapixel iSight camera with Live Photos and 4K video support, and 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera.

9.7-inch iPad Pro

At an event in Cupertino, California yesterday, Apple launched a new 9.7-inch iPad Pro - a sort of younger broad to the larger 12.3-inch iPad Pro which the company launched late last year.

The smaller iPad Pro features a new pro Retina display with better brightness, wide color gamut, lower reflectivity, something Apple calls Night Shift mode and another called True Tone which dynamically adjusts white balance.

The new iPad will also carry the same 64-bit A9X chip, a four speaker setup, new 12-megapixel iSight camera with Live Photos and 4K video support, and 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera.

It will also have the same optional device support as its bigger brother for the much talked about Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard.

Colors for the new device include silver, space gray, gold and a new rose gold metallic finish. The iPad will be available in 32GB, 128GB, and a new 256GB memory size - the highest of any iOS device.

Pre-orders for the new iPad will commence from Thursday, March 24 via the Apple website and Apple retails stores. There is no word yet on when it will be available in Africa.
